Loss, memories and connection to our past explored in Lysali’s new single release
Lysali releases her new single ‘Stolen Time (Changes In Slow Motion)’ on Thursday, January 9th.
“I teamed up with hit producer Julian Hinton to write ‘Stolen Time’” said Lysali. “Julian has worked with the likes of Stormzy, Seal, Rod Stewart and the Trevor Horn Project, so it was an amazing opportunity to work with a top music professional.”
Featuring Kris X on vocals, the song is a product of the Ultimate Artist Release programme run by The Songwriting Academy, an online platform that has already helped many aspiring artists to achieve success with their music. Kris X has a background in musical theatre, but his passion is for soul and he has sung all over the world with various different bands.
In ‘Stolen Time’ Lysali draws on her personal experience of family loss, to explore the thoughts and emotions experienced while grieving for a loved one. The song also explores the passing of time and the gradual changing of relationships and life situations, that we somehow don’t notice until we look back on our lives.
Lysali drew inspiration for the song from her eclectic taste in music styles, in particular, the music and earthy vocals of Peter Gabriel and the lush orchestration of Sade.
“I hope Stolen Time helps others to heal from personal loss” said Lysali. “It’s common to feel shock, disbelief, even denial in the early stages of grief. As time passes, we find a way to go on in our new life without that person. Their physical presence will always be missed, but with acceptance over time, we learn to find comfort in our memories of the time we spent together.
“I call the song ‘Stolen Time’ because if you think about it, in the end time steals all of us away. I hope it reminds us all to really make the most of every day, live life to the fullest and show the people we care about, that we love them every day.”
